Environmental responsibility
-Sustainable development is evident at Kaarnavilla by designing and manufacturing products in Finland and by making the majority of products by hand.
-Many products use recycled materials and renewable raw materials, and some have the Key Flag label.
-When products are manufactured close to where they were made, it is easier to find out about the ethics and responsibility of their production chain.
Responsibility strategy - Kaarnavilla
Kaarnavilla was founded out of respect for Finnish production and entrepreneurship. Responsibility and values strongly guide Kaarnavilla's operations. Values that are important to us are closeness to nature, quality, Finnishness and serenity. The key aspects of our responsibility strategy are built around these, our values – economic responsibility, social responsibility and environmental responsibility.
Financial responsibility
The quality of the products and their Finnishness are important values at Kaarnavilla. Kaarnavilla emphasizes the appreciation of Finnish production by guaranteeing customers that their products are designed and manufactured in Finland. Kaarnavilla is committed to maintaining Finnish design and production, and our customers can always trust that every product is Finnish.
Kaarnavilla supports Finnish society and selects only those partners for cooperation whose values align with Kaarnavilla's values. There is a network between entrepreneurs that is fully committed to supporting Finnish responsible entrepreneurship based on shared values. All cooperation is concluded in a written agreement after cooperation negotiations with each supplier, so that everyone gets their share. In some cases, cooperation negotiations may also result in a decision not to cooperate.
By encouraging the production of Finnish products and selling high-quality Finnish products, we support Finnish society. In addition to paying income tax, most products include VAT and as a Finnish company, the tax money stays in Finland. This is how we support the Finnish economy with our operations.
Social responsibility
Kaarnavilla's social responsibility is about working life experiences, safety, and supporting other entrepreneurs and companies.
Kaarnavilla has offered working life experiences to students, for example in the form of internships, and has enabled jobs for recent graduates. We want to give those who have just entered the workforce and students a perspective on responsible business operations and strengthen a positive image of Finnish entrepreneurship.
To ensure consumer safety, Kaarnavilla complies with all laws regarding the materials used in products, product labeling and warnings. We protect consumers by following Tukes' product safety regulations regarding what products can be sold. For example, toys are e-marked in accordance with the requirements and pacifier cords are in accordance with Tukes' guidelines. We take safety seriously for the sake of consumers, so that purchasing decisions are made more safely.
We are committed to supporting other entrepreneurs and companies. Our suppliers do not just deliver products to us, but we form a community with entrepreneurs that we want to hold on to. We are committed to working with our contract entrepreneurs and other entrepreneurs, and we do not see other entrepreneurs as competitors. We want to highlight the collaborations between entrepreneurs and we at Kaarnavilla also buy from other entrepreneurs. We are actively involved in entrepreneur networks. We are part of the Finnish Entrepreneurs Association, the Entrepreneurs of Southwest Finland and the Entrepreneurs of Turku, and with our active activities we want to emphasize the importance of Finnish entrepreneurship and community in our society.
Environmental responsibility
Kaarnavilla's business activities aim to support not only small businesses but also sustainable development. Sustainable development is evident in Kaarnavilla's products, which are designed and manufactured in Finland and the majority of which are handmade. Many products use recycled materials and renewable raw materials, and some have the Key Flag label. Kaarnavilla's aim is to encourage more conscious choices in consumption by offering high-quality materials and products that are more environmentally friendly.
When products are manufactured close to where they were made, it is easier to find out about the ethics and responsibility of their production chain. The costs and emissions of transporting goods are lower when products are not flown to Finland from the other side of the world. At Kaarnavilla, we aim to record everything essential in the product information so that the product return rate remains low. The packaging materials for the products use surplus material from other companies, and Posti is committed to delivering shipments in a carbon-neutral manner, compensating for any emissions by participating in certified climate projects.
Responsibility is continuous development, and Kaarnavilla strives to make its operations even more sustainable in the future.
